About Mohamed Farah

A bridge between communities, institutions, and public leadership.

Mohamed Farah is a Somali-American community leader, nonprofit executive, public speaker, and strategic advisor based in Minnesota. His family fled Somalia and lived in Dadaab, Kenya, before resettling in the United States. He moved to Minneapolis in 1999 and built a career centered on youth development, immigrant and refugee engagement, public policy, government partnerships, and community safety.

Mohamed co-founded Ka Joog in 2007 and served as its founding Executive Director. Under his leadership, the organization developed youth leadership, education, workforce, arts, health, and community engagement initiatives in Minnesota and North Dakota.

He has testified before the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee and has been recognized with the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award, the City of Peace Award, the Somali American Community Appreciation Award, and Youth Leadership of the Year recognition.
